Bungta Chiru Youth Centre (BCYC), Kangpokpi district has expressed apprehension that the youth welfare programmes and projects may get ceased in the state as several youth officers in the Department of Youth Affairs & Sports have retired leaving the posts vacant.
In a release, BCYC president Lemlalung Jachar stated that the Centre is facing crisis as the government has not released funds for newspaper, honorarium- and also not invited them for any of the programmes such as youth award, festival, leadership training, anti-drug abuse awareness programme, observance of Communal Harmony Week, Observance of National Youth Day, inter-district youth exchange programme, etc., for 2020-21 which were conducted every year under youth welfare programme by YAS Department.
On enquiry with an official of the YAS Department, they were told that this may be due to retirement of numerous youth officers and their post left vacant.
Hence, it appealed to the government to fill up the vacant posts of youth officers at the earliest.
