Imphal, November 03 2021:
The Manipur Drivers Association (MDA) has said that legal actions will be taken against Godown Manager of FCI Sawombung for collecting money from truckers for unloading inside the godown.
Khundongbam Sangitcharan, assistant secretary Manipur Drivers Association, told media that six wheeled trucks pay Rs 750 and ten wheeled trucks pay Rs 900 for unloading and weighing inside FCI Godown, but after a RTI was filed and it was clarified that no money should be paid for unloading and weighing inside any FCI Godown, the association had appealed all the godowns to not charge any money.
However, reports had come in from FCI Godown in Sawombung that the Godown Manager was charging money and when the association members tried to approach the manager, they were stopped by security personnels, he added.
Some drivers who had spoken against payment of the said charges were also assaulted and harassed by the security personnels, he alleged.
