CM Biren hosts Ningol Chakkouba event

Chief minister N Biren Singh hosted a Ningol Chakkouba event, including a grand feast, for women representative of all the 32 communities settling in hills and valley of Manipur on Wednesday and presented them gifts.
With the spirit of brotherhood and togetherness and dressed in their best traditional attires, Ningol (women) of both hills and valley came carrying sweets and other edible items to attend the joyous Ningol Chakkouba event held at CM Bungalow here.
After serving a grand feast, chief minister N Biren sought blessings from the Ningols with presentation of gifts while the Ningols handed over sweets and edibles they brought to the chief minister.
During the event, Biren said that he had thought of holding such a grand Ningol Chakkouba for a long time but it remained as a dream.
However, the dream has been realised on Wednesday and the day has become one of his happiest moments, Biren said, adding that the event showcased close relation between hills and valley people.
On the other hand, a Ningol, who attended the event, told media persons that she was overwhelmed when chief minister of the state hosted a grand Ningol Chakkouba event and hosting such an event showcased CM Biren's quality to be the leader of the state.
She also wished that N Biren continues as the chief minister and brings a change by strengthening relation between hills and valley people.
During the event attended by CM Biren's wife Hiyainu, education minister S Rajen, PHE minister Losii Dikho, deputy speaker K Robindro, 29 out of the 32 tribal museums constructed at an estimated cost of Rs 5.6 crore were also inaugurated through online following completion of construction.
