MLA Nemcha Kipgen unveils Thadou Heritage Museum

The Thadou Heritage Museum constructed at Thadou Inpi-General Headquarters Complex in Champhai sub-division's Keithelmanbi Military Colony in Kangpokpi district has been inaugurated on Wednesday.
Kangpokpi MLA Nemcha Kipgen officially unveiled the inaugural plaque of the Thadou Heritage Museum after the virtual inauguration by chief minister N Biren in Imphal.
The unveiling ceremony was also attended by SP (Kangpokpi) Karthik Malladi, Rev K Hangshing, Thadou Inpi General Headquarters president Lamminthang Kipgen and Thadou Inpi Sadar Hills chairman Thanglensei Kipgen apart from representatives of.Sadar Hills Chiefs' Association (SAHILCA), Kuki Inpi Kangpokpi District, Thadou Women's Association and other civil society organisations.
The museum was constructed at a cost of Rs 15 lakh sanctioned by the state government and was among the 31 similar facilities set up to preserve the indigenous artefacts of 32 tribes of the state.
The museums are aimed at preserving the cultural heritage of the diverse hill communities inhabiting the state.
Addressing the gathering, MLA Nemcha, who is also the only woman BJP legislator in the state, said that the Thadou tribe is the second largest in the state and that Thadou Heritage Museum will not only play an important role in preserving the cultural heritage but also provide space to learn about the culture of different tribal communities of the state.
The MLA also said there are many tribes within the fold of Kuki, and when all the tribes are united, the Kukis will automatically prosper, develop and become a strong nation.
She also conveyed heartfelt gratitude to the BJP led government under the leadership of chief minister N Biren for bestowing the Thadou tribe with such an important heritage museum.
Speaking at the event, Kangpokpi SP Karthik appealed to the people of the district to extend their fullest cooperation to the government's War against Drugs' campaign in the district so as to eradicate the ills of illegal poppy cultivation.
On the other-hand, Thadou Inpi leaders appealed to everyone to donate materials and items suitable for the museum while donors from Motbung donated an old Thadou quilt and Thadou traditional top for the museum on the occasion.
As a part of the programme, members of Thadou Artistes' Association enthralled the crowd with their melodious songs.
