Dance drama 'Kansa Vadh' staged

Imphal, November 03 2021:
A Manipuri dance drama 'Kansa Vadh', the newest production of Harimati Dance & Music Centre under the aegis of Union Ministry of Culture, was presented at Jawaharlal Nehru Manipur Dance Academy hall on Wednesday.
The story of the drama is based on Lord Krishna killing King Kansa.
The story depicts the triumph of goodness over evil.
The theme of the dance drama was 'Let the pandemic Covid-19 be ousted from the world'.
The inaugural performance of the dance drama was attended by Governor La Ganesan as chief guest, Harimati Dance & Music Centre president N Manishyam Singh as president and art & culture director Ngangom Uttam Singh as guest of honour.
Speaking on the occasion, Governor La Ganesan stressed that it is our duty to preserve and enrich the culture.
Manipur is well known to the world for its rich art & culture and sports as well.
Manipur's art and culture is a priceless part of the nation's heritage and also of the world, he added.
He observed that though every country has its own art & culture, India's art & culture has a strong unbreakable relationship with traditions and religious devotion.
The Governor also praised Harimati Dance & Music Centre for its exceptional role in preservation of Manipuri dance, besides propagating Manipuri culture.
