CM inaugurates tribal museums

With a vision to preserve and showcase the rich culture, tradition, art and crafts of various tribes of Manipur, chief minister N Biren on Wednesday virtually inaugurated 29 Tribal museums constructed in 10 districts of the state from his Secretariat office.
Speaking at the event, chief minister Biren recounted that the government planned construction of a total of 31 tribal museums under the aegis of Manipur State Archaeology of the Department of Art & Culture.
Out of these, six have been constructed in Chandel, three in Tengnoupal, five in Kangpokpi, six in Churachandpur, four in Senapati, three in Tamenglong, one museum each in Pherzawl, Ukhrul, Noney and Imphal East.
The remaining two museums will be completed at the earliest, he added.
It may be mentioned that these museums were constructed by the deputy commissioners concerned in consultation with the respective tribal leaders.
The museums which were inaugurated are for Anal, Chothe, Lamkang, Monsang, Moyon, Tarao, Aimol, Maring, Mate, Chiru, Kharam.Koireng, Thadou, Purum, Gangte, Paite, Zou, Kom, Simte, Vaiphei, Thangal, Mao, Maram, Inpui, Zeme, Hmar, Tangkhul, Rongmei and Kabui tribes.
Among others, PHE minister Losii Dikho, education minister S Rajen, Manipur Legislative Assembly deputy speaker K Robindro, and Manipur Building and Others Construction Workers' Board chairman H Dingo were present during the inaugural function.
