Committee rues Government's negligence; warns of NH-37 shutdown

Noney, November 03 2021:
The Affected Land Owners Committee has expressed its reservation against the negligence of the State Government over the land acquisition and compensation for widening works of NH-37 in Noney area and warned of 24-hour total shutdown in National Highway-37 from midnight of November 4 .
In a release, the affected committee stated that after a series of representations submitted to the concerned authority by the Affected Land Owners to consider the correction of errors in the processes, they were continuously deprived of their rights.
It also stated that the committee had also submitted a representation to the Chief Secretary, Government of Manipur and his directive was served to the DC Noney.
Subsequently, DC Noney was transferred recently and posting of new DC has been deferred of taking charge till date, which is a total violation of the Government Order/Gazette dated October 22, it alleged.
It also alleged that the former DC Noney has been interfering in official matters like affecting payment of compensation amounts.
The Affected Land Owners Committee further mentioned that in light of the recent development, it is compelled to take up different forms of agitation including sealing of DC Noney office, ban of NHIDCL in NH-37, etc to highlight the grievances of the affected land owners.
