Nemcha Kipgen unveils Thadou Heritage Museum

The Thadou Heritage Museum constructed at Thadou Inpi-General Headquarters Complex in Champhai Sub Divisional Headquarters, Keithelmanbi Military Colony, Kangpokpi district was formally inaugurated on Wednesday.
Kangpokpi Assembly Constituency MLA Nemcha Kipgen officially unveiled the inaugural plaque of Thadou Heritage Museum after it was virtually inaugurated by Chief Minister N Biren Singh.
The unveiling ceremony was attended by SP Kangpokpi, Karthik Malladi, IPS; Rev K Hangshing; Thadou Inpi General Headquarters president, Lamminthang Kipgen; Thadou Inpi Sadar Hills chairman, Thanglensei Kipgen along with representatives of Sadar Hills Chiefs' Association (SAHILCA) and Kuki Inpi Kangpokpi District, Thadou Women' Association.
The heritage museum was dedicated by Rev K Hangshing.

Speaking on the occasion, Nemcha Kipgen stated that the Thadou tribe is the second-largest tribe in the State and the Thadou Heritage Museum would not only play an important role in preserving the cultural heritage but also provide space to learn about the culture of different tribal communities.
She also mentioned that there are many tribes within the fold of Kuki, and when all the tribes are united, the Kukis would automatically prosper and develop.
The MLA then conveyed heartfelt gratitude to the BJP led Government under the leadership of Chief Minister N Biren Singh for bestowing the Thadou tribe with such an important heritage museum and also thanked the Thadou Inpi and various other contributors for setting the heritage museum.
Karthik Malladi stressed on the importance of enforcing the Government's 'War against Drugs' in the district and appealed to the people to support and render maximum cooperation in eradicating illegal poppy cultivation in the district.
It may be mentioned that the Government had sanctioned Rs 10 lakh each to 32 different tribes of Manipur to establish small museums to preserve their indigenous artifacts and also sanctioned an additional amount of Rs 5 lakh each to construct a toilet and purchase display cabinets to showcase the artifacts.
The proposed museums are aimed at preserving the cultural heritage of the diverse hill communities inhabiting the State.
The construction work is being supervised by the Department of Art and Culture and executed by committees of tribal communities.
