Covid claims one more life, infects 57

Covid-19 has claimed one more life in the last 24 hours in the state while government bulletins reported 57 new positive cases out of 1686 samples tested registering a positivity rate of 3.38 per cent on Wednesday.
Tuesday recorded 3 per cent positivity rate.
The lone death case was a resident of Imphal East, who had received both doses of Covid-19 vaccine.
It took the cumulative number of death cases to 1926 .
So far, 124 vaccinated persons have died of Covid as per official reports and 16 of them have received both doses of vaccine.
Out of the 16 districts, only seven reported Covid cases on Wednesday with Imphal West reporting highest cases at 29.In terms of positivity rate, Imphal East district recorded highest single day positivity rate at 8.5 per cent while Thoubal district recorded lowest positivity rate at 0.9 per cent.
Churachandpur, Jiribam, Kakching, Kamjong, Kangpokpi, Noney, Pherzawl, Tamenglong and Tengnoupal districts did not report any new positive cases.
The active caseload remains at 704 out of which 77 (10.94 per cent) are in home isolation, 174 (24.72 per cent) in CCCs, and 173 (24.57 per cent) in hospitals while whereabouts of 280 patients (39.77 per cent) are hot known as all the CHICs have been shut down.
Among the hospitalised patients, 48 are admitted to ICU/HDU wards, 36 are on oxygen support and 19 on ventilator support.
However, there is no report on number of patients on oxygen and ventilator support at JNIMS even though it has 86 patients.
On the other hand, there is one patient on oxygen support in one of the CCCs.
There is no updated information regarding bed availability but as of Tuesday evening, 704 beds including 131 ICU/HDU beds were available in different hospitals, 2508 beds in different Covid Care Centres and 451 beds (30 ICU/HDU) in district hospitals and CHCs.
So far, the state has recorded 94,499 positive cases and 1552 fatalities since the beginning of the second wave of the pandemic out of which 426 new cases and 9 fatalities were added in the last seven days alone.
The current month reported 168 new positive cases and five death cases.
According to official reports, 56 of the new positive cases (23 male & 33 female) are from among the general population and 1 from Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) whose samples were confirmed at RIMS (14), JNIMS (5) and other testing centres (38).The positive cases from among the general population are from Imphal East (19), Imphal West (29), Thoubal (l), Bishnupur (2), Ukhrul (2), Chandel (2) and Senapati (1).In the last 24 hours, 56 patients were discharged from home isolation (13), JNIMS (13) and CCCs (30) .
The cumulative number of positive cases has reached 1,23,899 (general population - 1,19,561 and CAPF personnel - 4,338) .
Number of recovered cases is 1,21,269 (general population -1,16,950 and CAPF personnel - 4,319) and number of active cases is 704 (general population - 690 and CAPF personnel - 14).The recovery rate is 97.88 per cent.
A total of 423 D-type and 155 B-type Oxygen cylinders have been made available to different health facilities in the last 24 hours.
At the same time, 11,089 vaccine doses were administered on Tuesday which took the total number of vaccinated persons to 12,51,250 including 7,37,384 fully vaccinated individuals.
As per data maintained by The People's Chronicle based on IDSP and CCR reports, number of total cases in different districts are Imphal West (43,193), Imphal East (27,439), Thoubal (9445), Churachandpur (10,140), Kangpokpi (2780), Tamenglong (3278), Bishnupur (9158), Senapati (2231), Ukhrul (2947), Kakching (6400), Chandel (2337), Noney (1068), Tengnoupal (1065), Jiribam (1022), Kamjong (932) ahd'Pherzawl (464) .
Fatality counts in different districts are Imphal West (640), Imphal East (459), Thoubal (174), Churachandpur (161), Kangpokpi (61), Tamenglong (13), Bishnupur (190), Senapati (10), Ukhrul (39), Kakching (111), Chandel (39), Noney (4), Tengnoupal (13), Jiribam (7), Kamjong (5), and Pherzawl (0) .
Data analysed by this daily shows that the rate of infection remains 39,929 confirmed cases per million population (based on projected population of 31,03,000 as per NCP report) against the national average of 24,539 CPM.
Test rate has improved to 4,42,294 tests per million population against the national average of 4,37,214 TPM.
Case fatality rate stands at 1.55 per cent.
In the past 24 hours, only lo86 samples were tested and the single day positivity rate was 3.38 per cent per cent while the cumulative positivity stands at 9.03 per cent.
