At least three persons have been convicted on the charge of sexually assaulting minors by different Courts, today.
While Salam Imocha, Special Judge of Fast Track Special Court number 1 Manipur convicted 52 years old Lairenlakpam Rana and 40 years old Mayanglambam Jitan in two different cases of crime against women and child, Ch Brajachand, Judge of Special Fast Track Court number 2 convicted 38 years old rape accused Arambam Robindro under Section 6 of POCSO Act.
Reportedly, Lairenlakpam Rana and Mayanglambam Jitan sexually assaulted minors on November 5, 2016 and in February 2019 respectively.
Soon after the judgment order was announced, the two convicts on bail were remanded to judicial custody at Manipur Central Jail Sajiwa.
In the first case, the Court convicted Lairenlakpam Rana, s/o (L) Ibopishak of Sagolband Tera Sapam Leirak for sexually assaulting a minor girl.
The case was on against the convict after the elder brother of the victim lodged a complaint before Lamphel Police Station, claiming that convict took the victim to a distant place and carried out the crime.
In the second case, the same Court convicted Mayanglambam Jitan @ Kokpei, s/o (L) Chinglen of Luker Mayai Leikai for sexually assaulting another minor girl in February 2019 .
The matter came to light after the victim narrated the incident to her mother, according to police.
The Special Judge directed the authority concerned to produce both the convicts before the Court for sentence hearing tomorrow.
Meanwhile, Ch Brajachand, Special Judge of Special Fast Track Court number 2 convicted rape accused Arambam Robindro under Section 6 of POCSO Act for committing aggravated penetrative sexual assault on a minor girl on October 26, 2014 and fixed tomorrow for sentence hearing.
Convict Arambam Robindro, s/o (L) Ibochou of Bishnupur Maining Leikai Ward number 3 who is presently in judicial custody was produced before the Court.
The case was on against the convict after the mother of the victim, in a complaint lodged to Imphal West women police station, claimed that her daughter was sexually assaulted by the convict in the bedroom of a school quarter on October 26, 2014 .
Prosecution in order to prove the charge levelled against the convict produced 14 prosecution witnesses while the convict did not produce any witness in his defense.
