Need to impart knowledge of culture, identity, history of Manipur among school children stressed

North East Zone Cultural Centre, Ministry of Culture, Government of India and Department of Art and Culture, Government of Manipur jointly organised a presentation of "Loushingna Paangalni" at Manipur Dramatic Union Hall at Yaiskul Police Lane today.
It is worth mentioning that the play is a production of Children Theatre Workshop which was held at Langthabal Kunja Junior High School from December 10 to 24 .
Speaking as the chief guest L Nandakumar Singh, Director Education (S) stated that time brings a lot of changes.
Elaborating on this point, he said that in the past only education was emphasized, but now focus has expanded to extra curricular activities.
In this regard, he pointed out 'no school bag' Saturdays to further drive his point home.

He further floated the idea of providing awareness to children about theatre on Saturdays after holding a discussion with the Education Department and Art and Culture Department, if Covid does not affect school hours.
Delivering the presidential speech, L Kishworjit Singh, Director, Art and Culture asserted that children are the future of this nation.
He stated that the workshop was organised in order to impart knowledge about the culture, identity and history of Manipur among the school children through non-formal education.
Speaking in connection with the Children Theatre Workshop, Ningombam Jadumani Singh, workshop director stated that the workshop aspired to uncover the dormant talent present in young children, encourage them to express their thoughts and feelings confidently.
Children Theatre Workshop is not for entertainment or a sole depiction of culture.
But it is something that attempts to shape the future generation of Manipur.
The event was also attended by Swapnanil Baruah, retd IAS as the guest of honour.
Aside from this, certificates and shawls were handed over to Ningombam Jadumani Singh, workshop director; Hajarimayum Roji Devi, assistant director; Laishram Shyamkumar Singh, assistant director and Hazarimayum Bidya devi, music assistant.
Notably, a differently abled child was among the group who performed today's play to the delight of the audience.
