Imphal, December 28 2022:
While cocking a snook at the BJP and turncoat politicians simultaneously, CLP leader and former Chief Minister Okram Ibobi has stated that the ruling party at the Centre is very much aware of the political situation in the North East region where the saffron party is at the helm including Manipur and even flies would not buzz at its office at Nityaipat Chuthek when their influence diminishes.
Ibobi continued that many politicians joined the BJP in North East India with an eye on the chair only and they will defect the party when they are no longer in power.
The Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) observed the 138th foundation day of Indian National Congress (INC) at Congress Bhavan today.

At the function, the former Chief Minister maintained that the BJP Government in Manipur doesn't take feed backs from the people 'but imitates the arrogance and self promotion of their Central leaders' .
Claiming that bad mouthing the Congress party has become a routine affair of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Ibobi asked why the BJP is targeting the Nehru and Gandhi families and Rahul Gandhi who is only a Member of Parliament.
The Central leaders of BJP know very well that there 'would not even be flies' at its office at Nityaipat Chuthek when the saffron party becomes powerless, he ridiculed.
Saying that he didn't talk much about BJP though there are many reasons to as engaging in verbal altercation is useless, Ibobi asserted that he will not hesitate to speak about the mismanagement of the saffron party at the appropriate forum.
He also appealed to the people to see what Congress is capable of when the time is right.
"People know what Congress has done for the country and the State while they were in power and what the BJP has been doing so far," Ibobi said.
"Let the people decide the good and bad of a political party as it is them who have supreme power in a democracy," he added.
The Supreme Court has started to criticise the NDA Government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi for interfering in appointment of Judges, Ibobi claimed and added that the freedom of expression which the Congress party value so much has also been challenged by the ruling party regularly.
He went on to state that democracy will cease to exist if the NDA Government continuously interferes in the work of the Judiciary and the media.
Maintaining that many powerful Nations know the contribution of the Congress party in the freedom struggle of the country and the challenges the party faced, the CLP leader asserted that there is no force which can abolish the grand old party.
The idea of India as envisioned by the Congress party is the one where there is peace and communal harmony, Ibobi said and exuded confidence that Congress will surely return to power in the coming days.
MPCC president K Meghachandra, on the other hand, said that he is proud to be a member of Congress which has done so much for the cause of the country and 'brought joy to every Indian' .
Recounting that the history of Congress has both ups and downs, he appealed to all party members and people to share their ideas and knowledge to defeat the challenges besieging the State and country at large.
Claiming that the BJP is still not taking the issue of misappropriation of crores of rupees in PMGSY scam seriously though they have provided all evidence, he asked if the BJP Government in Manipur is truly people-centric and works for the development of the State.
If the current trend of misappropriation of public fund continues then there would be no money left in the exchequer of the State by the end of the second term of BJP, the MPCC chief said and claimed that the number of poor families will rise even if there are programmes like Go to Hills and Go to Villages as long as the Government sidelines the interest of the citizens.
Saying that MPCC will conduct Haath Se Haath Jodo Abhiyaan from 26 January 2023 onwards as part of Rahul Gandhi's Bharat Jodo Yatra, Meghachandra said that they will reach out to the people and hear their grievances during the 2-month long campaign.
Congress will always stand beside the people even though the party is not in power for the time being, he assured.
