CSOs' leaders held

Duty Magistrate Imphal West on Saturday remanded leaders of three different civil society organizations (CSOs) who were arrested on the charge of having nexus with an underground outfit to 10 days police custody.
The accused Sanasam Ibohanbi @ Ibo (48) s/o Irabanta of Singjamei Okram Leikai, Nongthongbam Bimol (63) s/o (L) Gokulchandra of Khurai Chingangbam Leikai and Yengkhom Dhiren (46) s/o Manihar of Moirangkampu Maning Leikai were produced before the Court yesterday evening with a prayer for remanding them to 14 days police custody.
The IO of the case through APP submitted that a team of Imphal West district commando received specific information on June 25 last at around 9 pm about the presence of some members of unlawful organizations in and around Singjamei Okram Leikai.
Acting on the information, the commando team rushed to the spot and carried out a search operation in suspected houses of Singjamei Okram Leikai Sanasam Kolup, during which Sanasam Ibohanbi was detained.
During preliminary interrogation, Sanasam Ibohanbi disclosed that he is an active member of a banned underground outfit and also is working as a finance secretary of a certain CSO.
He also revealed that he had received Rs 4,29,000 from Nongthongbam Bimol through Yengkhokpam Dhiren.
Saying that Sanasam Ibohal was arrested on the spot while Nongthongbam Bimol and Yengkhokpam Dhiren were arrested from their respective places at around 12.30 am on June 26, the IO further stated Rs Rs 69,500 was recovered from the office of the CSO located at Keishampat Laishom Leirak as per the disclosure of Ibohal.
The IO then prayed that three accused persons are required to be remanded to 14 days police custody for smooth investigation of the case.
The Court on perusal of the case record and material produced remanded them to 10 days police custody till July 5 .
