SOP violators fined

Imphal, June 27 2021:
The Police Department detained 162 SOP violators today and collected a sum of Rs 49,450/- (Rs forty nine thousand, four hundred and fifty only).
The Police Department continued the crack down on violators of guidelines and restrictions issued by the State Government and the State Disaster Management Authority in connection with COVID-19 pandemic, including failure to wear mask in public places, failure to maintain social distancing in public places, spitting in public places, etc.
to prevent the spread of COVID-19.The Police Department warned that those who violate the SOP shall be dealt with strong legal action under National Disaster Management Act, 2005 and other appropriate laws.
The Police Department has collected a sum of Rs 2,34,01,260/- (Rs two crore, thirty four lakh, one thousand, two hundred and sixty only) as of today.
Despite the increase in penalty for SOP violators and various restrictions imposed by the Government in order to contain the spread of the virus, the public continues to break the guidelines.
