Imphal, June 27 2021:
Union minister for road transport and highways Nitin Gadkari would be inaugurating Makru Bridge on NH 37 on July 8 instead of July 2 due to his busy schedule.
The BJP-led state government requested the union minister to inaugurate the RCC bridge, which is a long-cherished dream of the people of the state.
Earlier, the inauguration was scheduled for July 2 but the grand programme had to be postponed to July 8 after the union minister intimated his hectic schedule on the previously fixed date.
On the other hand, a trial landing of helicopter was conducted at a newly constructed helipad close to Makru Bridge on Saturday.
Nitin Gadkari will first arrive in Imphal and then go for inaugural of the bridge in a chopper.
Chief Minister N Biren had earlier stated that the union government will announce a Rs 3000 crore project package for the state during the union minister's visit.
