One dies, two injured in accidents

Imphal, June 27 2021:
One person has died and a couple injured in two separate accidents on Sunday.
According to police reports, a blue Swift Dzire (MN06LA1782) turned turtle after over speeding at Sa-goltongba around 1:30 pm killing the driver.
The deceased has been identified as Nongthombam Jiten (48), son of N Shamo Singh of Uripok Yambem Leikai.
A Patsoi police team rushed to the accident site and took the victim to the RIMS Hospital, but he succumbed to injuries.
Post-mortem of the body has been completed and handed over to the family.
Meanwhile, a Tata tipper (AS11BC6752) carrying sand and stones hit an Activa 3G (MN01AB6101) injuring a couple at Wahengbam Leikai under City police station.
The injured couple has been identified as Irengbam Gitaranjan (50), son of late I Kulachandra and his wife Manihanbi (46) of Uripok Yambem Leikai.
Both of them are undergoing treatment at Shija Hospitals.
The accident occurred when the Activa coming towards Keishampat was trying to cross the road and the tipper from the opposite direction tried to swivel away from the Activa but crashed on the scooter.
Immediately, a police team led by SP (Imphal West) Dr S Ibomcha rescued the couple and extricated the Activa using excavator.
A suo motu case has been registered by City police station with connection with the accident.
On the other hand, chief minister N Biren in his Facebook post praised the Imphal West District Police for their swift action in rescuing the couple.
