Kangpokpi steps up Covid-19 vaccination drive

Kangpokpi, June 27 2021:
To ramp up the vaccination drive in Kangpokpi, the Christian-dominated district carried out mass vaccination campaign on Sunday at Hengbung village.
Kangpokpi is one of the districts with low vaccination rate with only about 16 per cent of the eligible population inoculated so far.
The medical department and Kangpokpi AC MLA Nemcha Kipgen have been tirelessly pushing for mass vaccination in the district.
The district magistrate/DC has also instructed SDOs to begin extensive advocacy with regard to vaccination in their respective jurisdictions.
Sunday's mass vaccination drive at Hengbung village was carried out under the supervision of Dr Paotinlal Haokip, medical superintendent District Hospital Kangpokpi.
In all, 310 individuals were vaccinated, the highest figure in the district so far, during the drive.
Among the 310 vaccinated, one dialysis patient and another hemiparesis patient were administered the vaccine at their respective residences at Hengbung.
Chief minister N Biren Singh on his Facebook post acknowledged the sterling effort of the medical department even on Sunday.
The chief minister said that vaccination drives are underway in full swing despite being a Sunday in Kangpokpi district.
"Let us encourage our family, colleagues and friends around us to get vaccinated at the earliest.
Please remember, no one is safe until everyone is safe", said the chief minister.
Meanwhile, advocacy programmes on vaccination were held at various places in Kangpokpi AC.
One such advocacy programme on vaccination and tuberculosis was held at Daili village under the supervision of Dr Pilhing, MO in charge of PHC Kalapahar and Dr Len Kamkhosat Khongsai, district tuberculosis officer, in collaboration with the COVID Task Force concerned.
A similar programme was also held at Tumnoupokpi community hall in collaboration with CTF Yaikongpao-Tumnoupokpi.
Another advocacy programme on vaccination was held at Haipi village under the supervision of Dr Paotinlal Haokip, MS District Hospital Kangpokpi, and Dr Pilhing, MO in charge of PHC Kalapahar, in the presence of Haipi village authority, Church leaders, women society and youth leaders.
As instructed by MLA Nemcha Kipgen during the third review meeting, all the seven COVID Task Forces of Kangpokpi AC have started organising extensive awareness programme in their respective areas.
Any person from Kangpokpi AC who wishes to get vaccinated will be transported free of cost by the COVID-19 vaccination bus provided by the local MLA after the COVID Task Force concerned arranges related documents for the vaccination and due consultation with the vaccination in-charge officer.
Meanwhile, with six more new infections detected in the last 24 hours in the district and after three recovered COVID patients discharged from home isolation on Sunday, the active caseload in the district stood at 140.The district recorded no COVID death till the time of filing this report.
