Imphal, June 27 2021:
Federation of Government College Teachers' Association Manipur (FEGOCTA) has cautioned that it would go ahead with the agitation of boycotting conduct of online classes and examinations of government colleges if the state government fails to issue an order for implementation of 7th pay commission before June 30 .
In a statement, FEGOCTA media and publicity committee asserted that the orders for implementation of the 7th UGC Pay and Regulations, 2018 should be issued within the specified date failing which it would launch the agitation as announced earlier.
While reiterating that college teachers have been working tirelessly to impart education amidst a dreaded Covid-19 pandemic, the Federation also contended that any disturbances caused to the onli ne classes and the scheduled examination after June 30 shall be the sole responsibility of the Education Department and the minister concerned.
The teachers' body pointed out that the order should be as per the March 6 and June 27, 2021 cabinet decision on the issue.
FEGOCTA further appealed to finance minister and chief secretary to ensure immediate relevant procedures for issuing the said order.
"Bringing quality education and ensuring no disturbances to the online classes and examinations in government colleges are the joint responsibility of the government, teachers and stakeholders concerned," added the release.
