Son remanded for stabbing dad

The Court of Chief Judicial Magistrate Imphal West on Wednesday remanded a 44 year old man on the charge of stabbing his father last night to judicial custody till November 2 .
Accused Urikhinbam Open (44), s/o Shanti of Kakwa Naorem Leikai was produced before the Court by a team of Singjamei police station.
The IO of the case submitted that the 'victim' lodged a complaint to Singjamei police station last night, claiming that he was stabbed by his eldest son with a Rambo knife at the courtyard of his neighbour at around 8.30 pm.
The complainant continued that he got injured on his left hand and was taken to Urban Health Centre Singjamei by the locals for treatment.
Further, the complainant claimed that his eldest son is a habitual alcohol/ drug user and he (the accused) frequently harassed him and other members of his family.
The accused was arrested last night at around 9.30 along with the knife used in the commission of the crime.
During interrogation, the accused has reportedly admitted the charges levelled against him.
He also confessed that he has been taking drugs since 2008 and had stayed at rehabilitation centres many times.
It is further reported that U Open was arrested by NAB, Manipur earlier too.
The accused disclosed that he bought heroin from Lilong last night at around 6 and injected it at his home and later drank half a litre of local liquor.
The accused continued that he requested his mother to buy duck curry from a nearby hotel, which the latter denied.
Saying that he started protesting by kicking some doors of the house and throwing household items, the accused maintained that he took a knife from his room and assaulted his father at his neighbour's courtyard.
The IO prayed for police custody remand of the accused, claiming that the behaviour of the latter was aggressive as he not only broke household items but also assaulted the family members.
The Court on perusal of the case record and after hearing the submission of the IO remanded the accused to judicial custody till November 2 .
