Imphal, October 19 2022:
CPI-M slammed the BJP government at the Centre for its policy to impose Hindi based on the Hindi, Hindu and cultural nationalism doctrine of RSS, and said that such imposition is detrimental to the integrity and unity in diversity of the nation.
A statement signed by the party's state secretary Kshetrimayum Shanta termed the NDA government's policy as anti-national and anti-constitutional.
The Committee of Parliament on Official Language headed by union home minister Amit Shah in its 11th report submitted to the President of India recommended making Hindi mandatory in higher technical and non-technical institutions.
Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) and Manipur Technical University (MTU) fall under the technical category mentioned in the recommendation while Manipur University, Kendriya Vidyala and Navodaya Vidyalaya fall under the non-technical category.
Moreover, the committee recommended dropping of English as compulsory lan-' guage from recruitment examinations.
This move will give severe impact on non-Hindi speakers in pursuing higher education.
It violates the provisions of the Constitution and undermines contribution of non Hindi speaking freedom fighters, who played major role in the fight against the British colonial rule.
It is a threat to national integrity as it will create divisions in the country based on language, the statement said.
It further stated that the policy will be a big blow to the common people of the country and to the future of the nation.
It is time for all the democratic forces in the country to join hands and fight against the agenda of RSS propagated by the BJP government, it added.
