Local organisations pledge support to STDCM

Organisations of different localities have pledged full support to Scheduled Tribe Demand Committee Manipur (STDCM) which has been spearheading the movement demanding the inclusion of Meitei/Meetei in the ST list of the country.
The Kuraomakhong United Club (KMUC) and Sayang Kuraomakhong Women Development Committee have resolved to extend every possible support to all the activities of the STDCM.
A press release by KMUC informed that the resolution was taken during a joint meeting of advisors, executive of KMUC and Women committee held on October 16 last after thoroughly discussing the need to include Meitei/Meetei in the Scheduled Tribe list of India to avail the Constitutional support.
Further it was decided to appeal to the MLAs of Sagolband and Patsoi ACs to urge the State Government to expedite necessary actions to achieve the cause at the earliest.
Meanwhile, the member clubs of Mongshangei Kanba Apunba Lup (MKAL) namely Social Union Nascent Club (SUN Club), Southern Imphal Youth Welfare Organisation (SIYWO), Social Welfare Youth Club (SWYC) and Mongshangei Meira Paibis have also resolved to extend full support to STDCM and actively participate in all its upcoming activities.
The decision was taken during a joint meeting held on October 9 last at the building of SUN Club, said a press release MKAL.
Further it was decided to apprise Soraisam Ongbi Kebi Devi, MLA of Naoriya Pakhanglakpa Assembly Constituency of the resolution and to appeal her to support the cause and urged the Government for the same.
