CADA continues protests

The Coalition Against Drugs and Alcohol (CADA) in association with different women and local organisations continued to stage sit-in protests today against alcohol legalisation.
Today, sit-in protests were held at Langthabal Kunja, Mana Ingkhol and Lamdeng under Imphal West district.
At Langthabal Kunja, the sit-protest was organised by All Manipur Women Social Reformation & Development Samaj (Nupi Samaj), NIMPAL, Langthabal Kunja Mayai Leikai Meira Paibi, Divine Life Club and CADA Imphal West District Committee.
Speaking by the sideline of the protest, Yendrembam Tampha, senior meira paibi member, alleged that liquor legalisation will lead to an increase in crimes against women and children.

The protest at Mana Ingkhol was spearheaded by All Manipur Women Social Reformation & Development Samaj (Nupi Samaj), Mana Ingkhol Women Welfare Development Association and CADA.
Kshetrimayum Bormani, secretary, Women Welfare Development Association sternly opposed the State Cabinet's decision to partially lift the prohibition on alcohol and urged the Government to roll back their decision.
Lastly, at Lamdeng, the sit-in protest was held at Lamdeng Khunou Community Hall and jointly organised by All Manipur Women Social Reformation & Development Samaj (Nupi Samaj) Lamshang Branch and CADA.
During the protest, Nupi Samaj member Malika emphasized the harmful effects of alcohol abuse on health and society.
It may be noted that participants at all protest sites today shouted slogans against the legalisation of alcohol and appealed to the State administration to revoke the partial lifting of prohibition on liquor.
