'Farmer First' prog launched at Shangshak Khullen

Imphal, August 30 2022:
Directorate of Extension Education, Central Agricultural University (CAU), Imphal inaugurated a Farmer First' (Farm, Innovation, Resources, Science and Technology) programme at Shangshak Khullen, Ukhrul district on Tuesday.
Farmer First' programme is an initiative taken up directly by the Prime Minister's Office (PMO).
As of now, the programme has been taken up in 51 centres across the country, of which three are in the north east- Umiam in Meghalaya, Assam Agriculture University in Jorhat and CAU Imphal.
CAU has taken up the project at Maopung-dong village, Senapati and Shangshak Khullen, Ukhrul.
The inaugural function was attended by CAU vice chancellor Dr Anupam Mishra; Director of Extension Education and Farmer First programme principal investigator Prof Ph Ranjit Sharma; College of Agriculture, CAU dean Prof Indira Sarangthem; Umiam, Barapani CPGS-AS Prof Dr SV Ngachan; Kisan Sangh, Ukhrul district president Joy Horam; 24 Assam Rifles CO Major Abhishek Tiwari and Shangshak Khullen chief Ngazekmi Shikshak.
In his speech, Prof Ph Ranjit Sharma explained about the 'Farmer First' programme and the activities to be taken up by CAU for the welfare of farmers in the area under the programme.
Later, Dr Anupam Mishra distributed farm equipment, seeds of winter crops and chicks to the farmers.
An interaction programme was also organised on the occasion.
