Imphal, July 20 2026:
Blaming the Congress party for polarising communities in Manipur, Shiv Sena Manipur unit has decried the Congress party's attempt to portray itself as caring for Manipur all along while in fact the party is responsible for keeping Manipur backward despite being in power for over 50 years.
Speaking to media persons at their Babupara office today, Shiv Sena Manipur unit president Moirangthem Tombi said that Shiv Sena will take up necessary measures to re-construct the Mahadev temple at Koubru Leikha desecrated and destroyed by Kuki narco-terrorists in the initial days of the widespread violence which erupted on May 3, 2023 .
Tombi said that they will talk with Shiv Sena National leaders and Union Home Minister Amit Shah to re-construct the temple.
The Mahadev temple of Mondum will also be renovated.
The sacred shrines of Koubru and Thangjing which were damaged during the violence will also be restored, Tombi said.
He said that Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister and Shiv Sena leader Eknath Shinde will come to Manipur in October and interact with IDPs and other people affected by the violence.
Moirangthem Tombi who was recently appointed as member of the Ministry of Ayush's governing body and North East in-charge said that he submitted a representation to the Union Minister of Health & Family Welfare and AYUSH at New Delhi with a proposal to set up special directorate of folk traditional medicine in Manipur.
Noting that Manipur remains quite backward as compared to other States of India, he blamed the Congress party who ruled Manipur for over 50 years for the State's underdevelopment.
It was also during the Congress party's rule that 1528 people were killed in fake encounters, he added.
Given the present situation of Manipur, it is not desirable for the Congress party and BJP to engage in mudslinging.
He urged the Government to act in line with the people's impulse and check extortion and illegal taxation on National Highways.
