Foundation laid for MIU in Senapati

Senapati, October 12 2021:
PHE minister L Dikho laid the 'Grace Tsudou campus' foundation stone of Manipur International University (MIU), an autonomous state international university, at Tunggam village in Senapati district on Tuesday.
Dr Harikumar Pallathadka, chancellor MIU, W Joram, vice president NPF Manipur state, D Dailord Pao, president Poumai Naga Union, H Luny Justin, GS HTDC MIU, and Ng Lorho, executive member HTDC MIU, were among the dignitaries present during the event.
Addressing the gathering as the chief guest, minister L Dikho said that education is the backbone of the society, adding that it is not easy to have such a modern facility in the village.
He lauded Ng Lorho for his initiative and expressed hope that the university would progress under the able leadership of Dr Harikumar, The minister praised the Tunggam villagers ior their farsightedness for the benefit of the people and urged all to give full cooperation and support for the advancement of the university.
Dikho also assured of his full support to the Manipur International University.
MIU chancellor Dr Harikumar Pallathadka in his address said that they have started the journey and have to travel together unitedly though they may face problems, difficulties and hurdles.
He informed that Tunggam village is the second campus after Purul village in Senapati district.
Dr Harikumar disclosed that the DPR for Purul campus is ready and construction will start soon, adding that the MIU campus at Tunggam village may take some time.
Stressing the importance of education, the MIU chancellor said that the first step to transform society is through education as an educated child would contribute directly or indirectly to the society.
It is the job of the elders to protect the children and guide them to reach their full potential to realise their dreams, he added.
He also stressed the need for quality education for a better future and urged the gathering to work together for a better tomorrow to bring knowledge, development and prosperity, for which he sought the cooperation, support and blessings.
Appreciating the Naga culture, Dr Pallathadka said that Nagas have a unique culture and encouraged them to protect and promote it while urging them to remember the sacrifices made by the Naga elders.
He thanked God, Naga leaders, minister Dikho, state government, villagers, church leaders and village authority for their cooperation and permitting to start the university campus at Tunggam village.
The programme was attended by frontal organisations of Poumai community like Poumai Naga union, Poumai Tsiidoumai Me, Paomata Naga Council, Khumai Union, Tunggam Village Authority, villagers, MIU members and others.
It was chaired by Avio Lorho as Rev L Ashuli, pastor T/Afii CRC, delivered the invocation, Ng Lorho, executive member HTDC MIU, proposed a vote of thanks, and D Thepri Reo, pastor Tunggam B/C, said the benediction.
