Training progs on food processing underway

Under the aegis of Agricultural and Processed Food Export Development Authority (APEDA), National Small Industries Corporation Ltd, Imphal launched a 10-day long food processing training programme at Manipur Khadi and Village Industries Board, Lamphelpat on Monday.
Speaking as chief guest of the inaugural function, KVIB chairman L Radhakishore stressed that the youth in particular should try to have a profession and not be finicky and advised the trainees to put into practice knowledge gained from the training programme to become successful entrepreneurs.
According to NSIC SO Imphal manager L Ibetombi, the training programme will focus on educated unemployed youth and it will help create jobs to youth who are searching for it.
Meanwhile, Ayangleima Foods, which is a registered trademark brand of JKS Enterprises, along with Chanura Self Help Group, Phubala organised a 7-day certificate-based training programme on food processing and preservation at Phubala Makha Leikai.
The inaugural function was attended by Moirang MLA P Saratchandra Singh, Ayangleima Foods proprietor James Khongbantabam and IMA Helping Hands Trust founder Ranjita Elangbam as presidium members.
In a release, James informed that the training programme is one of the largest training programmes conducted in and around Phubala.
Around 100 trainees are taking part in the training programme, which will thoroughly explain about food processing and preservation of various items and also the schemes and loans given by central and state government to groups and units of food processing industry, he added.
