MST service to Tamphung begins

Passenger bus service from Imphal to Tam-phung village in Senapati district was flagged off by transport director Dr Nevidita Lairenlakpam from Manipur State Transport campus, Moirangkhom on Thursday.
Tamphung village in Senapati district is the last border village located adjacent to Peren district in Nagaland.
The MST bus service will operate from Imphal to the border village via Maram and Bendramai in Senapati district.
Apart from Dr Nevidita, the flag-off ceremony was also attended by deputy director Dr David Elangbam, MST staff, functionaries of Zeme Council, Manipur; Zeme Council, Senapati, chairmen/secretaries of different villages of the area and Zeme social workers of Senapati district.
The bus service will operate from Imphal to Tamphung village on Monday, Wednesday and Friday starting from MST office, Moirangkhom at 6.30 am and from Tamphung village to Imphal on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday from Tamphung bazar at the same timing.
The 182km distance from Imphal to Tamphung village and vice versa will be charged Rs 340 per passenger.
Meanwhile, Zeme leaders expressed their gratitude to chief minister and the transport minister for starting the MST bus Services to one of the most remote areas in Senapati district.
