The joint action committee (JAC) formed against the brutal killing of Akoijam Nonganba from Kwakeithel Lamdong has given an ultimatum to the authorities concerned to arrest all the perpetrators involved in the crime by 6 pm tomorrow.
The JAC cautioned that an indefinite State wide bandh will be called from February 17, 2023 (Friday) if the Government fails to materialise the demands of the JAC within the set time frame.
Addressing media persons during a press meet held at Kwakeithel Lamdong today, JAC convenor Thounaojam Ashalata said that the Chief Minister has informed that two accused namely Thokchom Sonia and Moses Golmei have been arrested in connection with the alleged killing.
While extending gratitude to the Chief Minister and authorities concerned for the new development, she expressed concern that one suspect identified as Stephen is still at large.
She demanded that Stephen should be arrested by 6 pm and the truth behind the killing of Nonganba should be brought out failing which the JAC will be compelled to resort to indefinite State wide bandh.
It may be noted that Nonganba who left home along with his alleged girlfriend Thokchom Sonia d/o Th Shanti of Kwakeithel Thokchom Leikai on February 11 was found dead at Changoubung in Kangpokpi district on February 12 .
