Licypriya to call on Pope Francis

Imphal, February 16 2023:
Eleven years old Indian climate and environmental activists Licypriya Kangujam has been invited to meet His Holiness Pope Francis at the Vatican to celebrate the World Environment Day on June 5 .
The invitation was sent by GEDI Group, the main media company in Italy as a part of Green and Blue Festival 2023 to be held on June 5 and 6 .
Among other accolades, Licypriya had won the prestigious Anthem Award 2023 in the USA for her plastic money shop project which aims to end the global plastic pollution crisis.
Licypriya started focusing on the plastic money shop project after she successfully transformed the iconic Taj Mahal into a single-use plastic-free monument last year.
She has been fighting to protect the environment since 2018 when she was just 6 years old after cyclones in Odisha in 2018 and 2019 caused massive destruction to lives and properties.
She will also be traveling to Dubai, UAE to address the world leaders at the 38th Middle East Energy Dialogue 2023 on March 7 .
The Federal German Foreign Ministry also invited her as a special guest for the 9th Berlin Energy Dialogue on March 27 and 28 at Berlin, Germany.
She will be leaving India for the USA, UAE, Germany and Italy visit in the last week of February to strengthen her global climate movement.
