All-round Sultan Karim helps CHAMP beat RULE by four wickets

Imphal, February 16 2023:
Md Sultan Karim dished out all-round display to help CHAMP Cricket Club (Khagempalli) beat RULE (Malom) by four wickets in Thursday's action of the MNCA Elite Tournament.
Asked to bat, RULE had a torrid innings succumbing to Md Sultan Karim's quality bowling.
The Malom side were all out for 95 in 25 overs.
Karim made light work of the RULE batting lineup taking seven wickets while Nitesh Sedai did his bit with two scalps and Thingbaijam Nocholson Singh took one to pave the way for side's victory.
Chabungbam Ishworjit was the main performer in RULE'S innings during which Sanjambam Somokanta (20), Rajkumar Herachandra (14) and Sanjenbam Ananda (10) also got double digits.
CHAMP's run chase wasn't as smooth as they would have liked as they lost six wickets in the process.
Opener Narsingh Yadav made a fighting 33 off 32 balls after his partner Samir got out for 9 off 13 balls.
The collapse of the middle order after Narsingh's dismissal compounded CHAMP's problems before Sultan Karim, ably supported by Nongthombam Gulson, took care of the run chase.
Batting at 7, Karim steadied the ship and guided his side to a successful chase with the help of Gulson scored 10 (not out) .
Ningthombam Sarojkumar singlehandedly took all six wickets for RULE but his heroic effort went in vain.
Md Sultan Karim deservedly earned the player of the match title for his seven wickets and unbeaten 28 .
