23 countries to attend B20 meet

Manipur will be hosting the first of the four B2O sessions scheduled in the North East from Friday.
B20 sessions are official G20 dialogue forums for the global business community.
The first day of the B20 conference will be attended by chief minister N Biren, Union minister of state for commerce & industries Som Prakash, MoS external affairs Dr RK Ranjan Singh, senior state and central government officials.
Briefing media persons in this regard at Old Secretariat, here, on Thursday , education minister Th Basanta Kumar said that the event will witness convergence of a host of overseas delegates from 23 nations including Australia, Argentina, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Chad, Canada, China, France, Greece Iceland, Japan, Nepal, Russia, Seychelles, Singapore, South Africa, Switzerland, Tunisia, Uganda, United States and United Kingdom.
These nations are the most powerful group of nations which account for about 85 per cent of world's GDP.
The dignitaries will also include 26 overseas business delegates and 24 diplomats including ambassadors from these countries and India as well as trade and business delegations and representatives from Bhutan, Bangladesh, Japan and Australia.
He further informed that the state government has made elaborate arrangements for the three-day event to showcase the potential that the state can offer to the delegates in sectors like health and family welfare, skill development, sports, urban development, textiles, finance & taxation, tourism, industries & commerce, IT, agriculture and fisheries.
As part of the programme, the chief minister will also facilitate business-to-business and business-to-government meetings.
Visiting overseas business delegates would get the opportunity to interact with the local industry during the B2B and with the government in the B2G session for potential investment, collaboration and tie-ups.
While informing that the cabinet ministers under the leadership of chief minister have been working day and night by forming sub-committees for ensuring successful and historic meeting, he continued that delegates will arrive here around 12.40 pm Friday and after visiting Shri Shri Govindaji Temple, the meeting having three sessions will commence from 3pm at City Convention Centre under the banner, 'Conference on Opportunities for Multilateral Business Partnerships in Information and Communication Technologies, Tourism, Health Care and Handlooms'.
On February 18, the delegates will visit the Polo Statue installed at Marjing hill, Loktak Lake, INA and Sangai Ethnic Park, followed by visits to Kangla Fort and Ima Keithel on February 19, he informed, while appealing to the people not to indulge in any activities that might give a bad impressive to the delegates.
Meanwhile, commissioner (tourism) Pradeep Kumar Jha stated that to take advantage of the presence of a large contingent of international delegates, the state government is making elaborate arrangements not only to showcase investment and partnership opportunities in the state but also provide a unique experience to the visiting delegates with exposure to Manipur culture, cuisine, art, festivities and scenic beauty.
He further said that the security details for the delegates would be all women police personnel to showcase women empowerment.
Representatives of Confederate of Indian Industries also participated in the press conference.
