Festival of cultural songs and dance held

Imphal, July 09 2022:
Keina Foundation organised a one day festival of cultural songs and dances in connection with Rath Yatra, one of the most important festivals of Hindus at Krishnamohan mandop, Yaiskul here on Friday.
Speaking at the event, Keina Foundation director Latasana informed that the festival was organised to revive the lost tradition of Rath Yatra, during which the youngsters used to showcase cultural songs and dances such as Khubak Esei, Pung Cholom, Joi Dev Chongba and classical solo dances.
Stating that the festival is held as part of the foundation's endeavour to preserve the cultural and traditional dance and art forms, the director informed it also organised another festival of dances titled 'Khongthang' in January.
Padmashree S Thanil, while praising the foundation's efforts towards preservation of traditional arts forms, urged all the cultural institutions to join hands for preserving the age old traditions of our forefathers.
Mumbai-based classical dancer Poushali Chatterjee also attended the festival among others.
