Covid cases rise, 23 more infected

The scare for another widespread transmission of Covid cases is on the rise in the state with the onset of the 4th wave as government bulletins on Saturday reported 23 new positive cases from seven districts, out of 307 samples tested in the last 24 hours, thus, registering 7.49 per cent positivity rate.
The 23 fresh cases (14 male & 9 female) are residents of Imphal West (9), Imphal East (6), Churachandpur (3), Bishnupur (2), Kakching,(1), Ukhrul (1) and Tamenglong (1) districts.
Saturday also reported 11 recoveries from home isolation (5) and Shija Hospital (6) whereas no death case was reported in the last 24 hours.
Number of active cases rose to 130, out of which 112 are in home isolation.
Till date, the pandemic has claimed 2120 lives including seven CAPF personnel and infected 1,37,412 individuals including 5,014 CAPF personnel.
The virus has claimed lives of 194 vaccinated people of which 61 had received second doses of Covid vaccines.
There are 14 vacant beds available in JNIMS and 47 in RIMS.
So far, the state has recorded 167 positive cases since the beginning of the fourth wave of the pandemic.
The current month has reported 142 new positive cases.
The cumulative positivity rate for the current month is 8.17 per cent.
In the last 24 hours, 82 D-type and 3 B-type oxygen cylinders have been made available to different health facilities and 5122 vaccine doses administered taking the cumulative number of vaccinated population to 15,97,930, including 12,66,230 who had received second doses and 1,19,645 precautionary doses.
As per data maintained by The People's Chronicle based on IDSP and CCR reports, number of total cases in different districts are Imphal West (48841), Imphal East (30493), Thoubal (10167), Churachandpur (11060), Kangpokpi (3137), Tamenglong (3479), Bishnupur (9849), Senapati (2495), Ukhrul (3282), Kakching (6902), Chandel (2732), Noney (1161), Tengnoupal (1201), Jiribam (1111), Kamjong (1037), and Pherzawl (465).Data analysed by this daily shows that the rate of infection remains 44,284 confirmed cases per million population (based on projected population of 31,03,000 as per NCP report) against the national average of 30,984 CPM.
Test rate has improved to 5,20,924 tests per million population against the national average of 6,15,485 TPM.
Case fatality rate stands at 1.54 per cent and the recovery rate came down to 98.36 per cent.
The cumulative positivity rate stands 8.50 per cent.
