Minister calls for preserving Manipuri culture

Health and IPR minister Dr Sapam Ranjan has said, "We all need to protect and preserve our rich culture and its heritage".
Speaking as chief guest on the occasion of the festival of Dash-Avatar organised by Kangmong Sangeet Kala Mandal at Kangmong Meisnam Leikai, on Saturday, minister Ranjan stressed on the need for all to join hands to preserve our culture since our old cultures are in danger.
"There is a question in the hearts of many whether how long our culture can survive", the minister opined and also noted that there is a chain system in which our predecessors pass on our culture to the successors.
"The present generation needs to understand that the culture which we follow will be followed by the next generations.
We should maintain the right track for our future generation", Dr Ranjan maintained and also called upon all to join hands in tackling the menace of drug abuse in the society.
If the population is reduced culture will also be in danger.
This is the generation who is to protect and preserve our age old culture.
Hence, we should fight against drug to save our population", he added.
Ranjan also congratulated the members of the Kang-mong Sangeet Kala Mandal for organising such important events and encouraged them to carry on preserving and protecting the cultural identities.
Manipur Co-Operative Union president L Tomp ishak Singh, Sangeet Natak awardee S Hemanta Singh, Manipur Theatre Academy director S Beeren Singh and Padmashree Wareppa Naba also attended the event as special guest, guests of honour and president respectively.
