Let us protect and preserve our rich cultural heritage : Dr S Ranjan

Health and IPR Minister Dr Sapam Ranjan has stressed on the need to protect and preserve 'our rich culture and its heritage' .
The Minister made the above statement while speaking as the chief guest on the occasion of the 'Festival of Dash-Avatar' held at Kangmong Meisnam Leikai, Nambol, today organized by Kangmong Sangeet Kala Mandal .
Dr S Ranjan said that, 'We all should join hands to preserve our culture since the existing indigenous cultures are in danger.
There is a question in the hearts of many whether our culture will retain its authenticity and uniqueness' .
The present generation needs to understand that the cultural heritage has to be passed on to the next generations and should maintain the right track for the future generation, he added.
In context with the issue of drug abuse, the Minister emphasized that it should be tackled collectively.
Therefore he called for concerted efforts to fight against drug abuse so as to save the people of the State from its menace.
Further he commended the members of the Kangmong Sangeet Kala Mandal for organizing such important events and also suggested to carry on such efforts of preserving and protecting the cultural identities.
L Tompishak Singh, president of Manipur Co-Operative Union, S Hemanta Singh, National Sangeet Natak Awardee, S Beeren Singh, Director, Manipur Theatre Academy and Wareppa Naba, Padmashree Awardee also graced the occasion as presidium members among others.
