One more body retrieved, 11 still missing

Imphal, July 09 2022:
Another lifeless body was retrieved on Saturday, the 10th day of search and retrieve operation at the site of Makhuam village landslide.
With recovery of the body, the death toll has risen to 50 while 11 bodies still remain traceless.
The latest body recovered has been identified as that of railway executive engineer Kamlesh Talukdar, son of Rishikesh Talukdar of Kaldoba Dhubri, Assam.
The joint task force of NDRF, SDRF, army, AR, CRPF, Manipur Police, fire services, medical doctors and local volunteers conducted the search and retrieve operation since morning on Saturday.
The search operation will continue till recovery of all the bodies.
According to reports culled from the spot, body identification has become increasingly difficult due to tissue deterioration and finding missing bodies is also increasingly arduous as ability to trace them decreases with time.
Out of the 11 missing victims, one is a jawan of Territorial Army, six workers of Venkata Sai Construction and four locals.
Meanwhile, Tamenglong MLA Janghemlung Panmei revisited the spot of natural disaster on Saturday and monitored the progress of the ongoing operation.
