Ratha Yatra (Kang) festival ends

The celebration of Ratha Yatra (Kang Chingba) festival, one of the major festivals of Hindu religion followers, ended amid religious fervour and gaiety on Saturday.
The main festivity was held at Shri Shri Govindaji Temple here as per customary rituals and traditions with idols of Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra and Goddess Subhadra taken out in a procession in a chariot pulled by the devotees.
People from various parts of the state came to the Temple to participate in the festivity and offered fruits and edibles as tribute to the deities along with praying to them.
The chariot was pulled from near the temple's gate till City Convention Centre and back to the starting point.
Similarly, other major temples and those in the localities also carried out procession of chariots with devotees playing music and chanting with zeal.
Some of the processions even caused frame jams in various parts of Imphal city.
