Imphal, July 09 2022:
Chief Minister N Biren Singh, Rural Development & PR and MAHUD minister Yumnam Khemchand, MLA Sheikh Noorul Hassan, MLA K Robindro Singh, Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) and All Manipur Students' Union (AMSU) extended their greetings to the people of the state, especially the Muslim community, on the occasion of Id-ul-Zuha/Adha which falls on Sunday.
In their messages, the CM and others conveyed that Id-ul-Zuha/Adha, the festival of sacrifice, is celebrated with traditional fervour and gaiety across the world.
The festival marks the end of Hajj, a pilgrimage to the holy site Mecca, Saudi Arabia and commemorates the faith of Prophet Ibrahim and his devotion to Allah, they said.
Further highlighting that followers of Islam believe that Ibrahim willingly sacrificed his son Ismail as an act of obeisance, and pleased with the gesture of supreme sacrifice, the God asked him to sacrifice a sheep instead.
As such, the festival signifies the spirit of sacrifice rising above the narrow barriers of one's ego and self-interest for the good of all, they added.
They then wished the people of Manipur that with the celebration of Id, let Allah, the Almighty showers the state with his endless and merciful blessings on all for a united, peaceful and prosperous world.
