NFDB promotes 'Sustainable Fish Farming"

Senapati, March 23 2022:
National Fisheries Development Board (NFDB) in collaboration with Senapati District Agriculture Society (SDAS) conducted a one-day awareness programme on 'Sustainable Fish Farming Practices' at New Makhan, a hilly hamlet under Kangpokpi district on Wednesday.
During the programme, NFDB executive assistant Dorothy MS highlighted the government's thrust and schemes to encourage fish farming.
Fisheries inspector Thokchom Ponil Singh briefed the gathering on the role of district and state in implementing the schemes, while KVK SMS (Fishery) Hoilenting Khaute delivered a technical talk on breeding of carps and hatchery management.
A technical presentation on 'Composite Fish Culture' and 'Integrated Fish Farming' were also conducted by Dorothy and Th Ponil respectively.
50 tribal fish farmers and entrepreneurs attended the event.
NFDB in collaboration with SDAS is slated to conduct six more such awareness programmes in Daili village, Phuba, Purul, Lakhamai, Tungjoy and Koide villages in Senapati district from March 24 to 31 .
