"Inter-Tribe Women volley tourney" held

Senapati, March 23 2022:
As part of "Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao/Save girl child, educate girl child" initiative, the Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) Cell, Senapati and Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan (NYKS), Senapati jointly organised a 1-day Inter-Tribe Women Volleyball tournament under the theme, "Break the Bias" at Mini Stadium Ground, Senapati on March 20 .
The event was graced by LD Chasiiru, DPO, ICDS Cell, Senapati as the chief guest in the presence of different women leaders of the district.

In his welcome note, Ng Phuba James, MSW, ICDS Cell, Senapati stated that the "Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao" program was started in 2015 and added that ICDS Cell, Senapati is one of the first to implement the programme.
Since its induction, the Department has been striving to empower women by reaching out to the public through various ways viz- training, awareness programmes, poster campaigns, hoardings, sticker campaign, street plays and by organising different competitions like essay writing, speech competitions, drawing competitions, he said.
The ICDS Cell, Senapati had also organised women volleyball tournaments in the past which is considered as one of the good rooms for empowering women who are very shy in nature.
Through games, women have started to open up and show positive responses, he said.
Phuba James also stated that the program was organised to break biasness while raising and treating boy and girl children and urged all women to speak up and demand for their empowerment through their participation at various levels for gender equality.
Speaking as the chief guest, LD Chasiiru stated that winning and losing is only part of the game and asked all participants to enjoy the game and play well.
The chief guest also asked all players not to indulge in interdisciplinary acts in any manner that could hamper the spirit of the game.
While wishing all players the very best, the chief guest declared the match open.
3 teams each from Mao, Maram, Thangal and Zeliangrong and 4 teams from the Poumai Naga tribe participated in the tournament.
Maram-A bagged the championship title and a winners prize of Rs 15,000 while Poumai D finished runners up and received a cash prize of Rs 10,000 .
