Imphal, March 23 2022:
With Yaoshang festival coming to a close, six student bodies of the State have jointly appealed to put a stop on all manners of festivities and celebrations in consideration of the upcoming Class X, XI and XII examinations slated for April 5, 8 and 7 respectively.
A joint statement issued by the presidents of AMSU, MSF, DESAM, KSA, SUK and AIMS has stated that it is against the interest of the state that festivities including DJ events, concerts and courtyard plays continue to be scheduled even after the conclusion of the Yaoshang festival.
As such, the six student bodies have appealed for an end to such prolonged festivities in the name of cultural celebration which might prove to be detrimental to future generations, the statement added.
The student bodies urged people to do away with the escalating trend of indulging in excessive festivities and also suggested that if dates have already been fixed for 'Thabal Chongba', to postpone them and organise the same on Cheiraoba instead.
Further, the statement also appealed for the State Government's support in this respect considering the upcoming examinations.
However, if festivities continue to be held despite the student bodies' appeal, then the responsible parties must bear the consequences of their actions, the statement cautioned.
