Field Outreach Bureau Senapati under the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, Bureau of Outreach & Communication on Wednesday organised "Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav celebrating 75 years of India's independence and Covid-19 awareness" at K T Rock memorial Hall Hungpung, Ukhrul.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Waribam Urmila, Field Publicity Officer (FPO) stated that Field Outreach Bureau is the field publicity unit of Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, Government of India and that the unit has been disseminating information on various Government sponsored projects, schemes to ensure the benefits reach the targeted group or individual.
Dr Achan Mungleng, independent researcher and consultant, enlightened the participants on how the people struggled for independent India during the British regime.
She urged the students to start writing the stories of local heroes in order to keep alive their good deeds and improve their writing skill.
Meanwhile, District Immunization officer (DIO) Ukhrul, Dr Pamza Luikham deliberated on health safety measures and prevention of Covid-19 disease.
He informed that Covid-19 was first reported from Wuhan China in 2019, following which, WHO seeing the fast spread and vulnerability to human declared public health emergency across globe for the safety of all.
It is the responsibility of every right thinking citizen to get Covid-19 vaccine in time in order to live a meaningful life, free from coronavirus, he added.
Dr Luikham also dwelt on Covid appropriate behaviour, regular hand wash, wearing of face mask and social distancing.
Dr Thotreichon J, District Surveillance Officer (DSO) Ukhrul informed the gathering about the present covid-19 status of Ukhrul.
