Meth, opium worth Rs 3.70 cr seized

Senapati, March 23 2022:
Maram Battalion of Jwalamukhi Sector/IGAR (E) seized one kg of Crystal methamphetamine and opium worth Rs 3.70 crore.
According to Assam Rifles, based on specific input about presence of drug smugglers, troops of Maram Battalion manning mobile check post near Senapati town stopped a truck (WB 33D-9336) around midnight on March 20 .
The truck driver named Siddheshwar Ray was caught and found to be carrying scrapped cartons fully loaded in the truck to Guwahati.
After a detailed search of about 20 minutes, one sack full of opium was recovered and also after 30 more minutes of the search, a Bluetooth speaker was found containing suspected polythene screwed in the speaker itself.
The suspected drugs and the speaker was confiscated and NCB, Imphal was informed and with proper liaison and coordination between the Assam Rifles and NCB, it was confirmed that the seized drugs were 1kg of Crystal methamphetamine, which is stated to be an expensive drug from which the tablets like world is yours and other tablets are made.
Moreover, 17 Kg of Opium bound for Guwahati for smuggling were also seized.
The recovered items have been handed over to NCB Imphal and the accused was produced before the magistrate the next day.
