IDO urges Jiribam DA to clarify on encroachment

Jiri Development Organisation (JDO) has urged authority concerned to make clear to the public within three days regarding the likely inclusion of some areas of Jiribam district under Tamenglong district administration.
According to JDO vice president Jhaljit Yumnam, the ongoing assessment for providing compensation to land owners affected by expansion of Imphal-Jiribam road (NH-37) has created suspicion among Jiribam public that some areas of the district could be included in Tamenglong district.
In view of the likely encroachment on Jiribam area by Tamenglong district, the district administration of Jiribam should clarify to the public and take up steps to prevent unwanted incident from occurring, Jhaljit said.
Addressing a press conference on Wednesday at JDO office, Jhaljit said that clubs and organisations situated along NH-37 have discussed the matter seriously and decided to prevent encroachment on land falling within the jurisdiction of Jiribam district.
In view of the stern decision taken by these clubs and organisations, there is possibility of occurring unwanted incident and hence the district administration must handle the matter sincerely and bring an amicable solution, he said and appealed to the district administration to guide people of the district to the right path and clarify about the matter to Jiribam public within three days.
JDO president Sadananda, who was also present during the press conference, said that people of Jiribam district are suspicious about involvement of Tamenglong district administration in the ongoing assessment for providing compensation to land owners affected by HN-37 expansion and hence Jiribam district administration must clarify about the matter within three days.
He also said that people of Jiribam district want to get their entitled rights only from Jiribam district administration and not from other districts.
