Imphal, August 07 2026: Social activist Malem Thongam has urged Chief Minister Y Khemchand to take appropriate and effective measures to ensure free movement in Kangpokpi district.

In a press note, Malem said that the Chief Minister is scheduled to visit Kangpokpi on August 8 and meet representatives of various organisations.

In view of the proposed visit, he urged the Chief Minister to address the difficulties faced by Meitei, Naga and Tangkhul people while travelling along National Highway 2 in Kangpokpi.

Malem also appealed to all Kuki Zo organisations based in Kangpokpi, including Committee on Tribal Unity (CoTU) to respect the freedom of movement guaranteed under the Constitution.
