Imphal, October 11 2021:
Naga Students' Union Chandel (NSUC) on Monday submitted a memorandum highlighting various issues to Governor La Ganesan for his "immediate intervention and direction" .
In its memorandum, NSUC demanded that "ADC Bill be approved and early ADC election be held as promised by the state cabinet.
The ADC recruitment process should not be conducted before ADC election.
We have no objection to any recruitment process once the elected body is constituted under ADC Bill" .
It also called for an early solution to the long-pending Naga issue.
The student body further demanded reopening of the Ima Keithel/Women's Market at Chandel town which was inaugurated by the chief minister few months ago and sought "action taken report" on the pathetic education system in the district despite rolling out of "Aspirational District Programmes" .
NSUC also demanded installation of facilities and machines with adequate man power including specialist doctors and technicians, and immediate supply of drinking water.
It also contended that civil works being undertaken by different departments, particularly national highway, have compromised on quality and IVR/Linkage road as well along with contending that 70 per cent of employees of government departments in Chandel are functioning from home, resulting in ineffective implementation of various government schemes.
Other demands raised by the student body included opening of recently inaugurated District Transport Office at the earliest and resumption of classes in schools and colleges.
