Students' Emancipation Day observed

AMSU, Bishnupur District Committee observed the 33rd Students' Emancipation Day at the indoor hall of Moirang Multipurpose Higher Secondary School on Saturday.
The programme was attended by AMSU HQ president Chalamba Haobijam, Bishnupur Committee president Khangembam Shining and Apunba Nupi Lup Bishnupur advisor Lourembam Nganbi as presidium members along with about 500 students.
Speaking on the occasion, Kh Shining stressed that students should not only focus on academic matters but also should be socially responsible and have knowledge of traditions and customs.
They should be dutiful towards their parents, the society and the country at large, he added.
On the other hand, L Nganbi observed that rising number of students studying in private schools compared to government schools shows that authorities concerned are not paying attention to the prevailing conditions of government schools.
She also recalled that the observance has been organised in memory of students who gave up their lives in order to uphold rights of the student community.
