Dimapur, August 17 2026:
NSCN (IM) chairman Q Tuccu has asserted that Nagas will never permit the "so-called border fencing through the Naga homeland to further alienate the Naga brotherhood" .
In a notification issued today, the NSCN (IM) leader said Nagas are one wherever they are.
Nagas do not object to fencing elsewhere to check the influx of illegal immigrants, "but at no cost will Nagas allow our homeland to be fenced/divided to serve the interest of others", he said.
Q Tuccu said the NSCN (IM) has, time and again, made it known that erecting fencing through the "Naga homeland" will be resisted by all means.
Nagas have the right to exercise free movement within the "Naga homeland", he added.
Tuccu then said scrapping of the Free Movement Regime (FMR) on the grounds of "Indian security is anti-Naga, because it restricts the rights of Nagas to nurture cultural and Naga brotherhood at its root" .
Tuccu then said Nagas will not be intimidated by any form of force or other suppressive, oppressive and repressive actions.
He alleged that the "plot" of the Government of India to entice the villagers with land compensation for fencing the border is a cheap agenda.
Tuccu said that the guardians and custodians of Naga customary practices, traditions, land and other resources must stand guard and remain vigilant against such activities.
The NSCN (IM) leader also said village chiefs and landowners must not succumb to "such a derogatory approach" by the Government of India.
The rights of the Nagas, he added, cannot be bartered away for a few dollars.
The present Naga generation must stand firm for the future Naga generation "like the forefathers who stood their ground for us", he said.
