Imphal, May 28 2022:
Kangleipak Kanba Lup (KKL) has questioned the alleged silence of the government even as some individuals or organisations continue to challenge the territorial integrity of Manipur.
Addressing a press meet at its office here on Saturday, KKL secretary general Ngamkheingakpa Luwang said that several foreigners/immigrants settled in the reserved and protected forest areas of the state after Manipur merged with the Indian Union.
Numerous new villages have cropped up in reserved and protected forest areas over the past few decades and yet the government is doing nothing effective which tantamount to supporting the influx and settlement of illegal immigrants, who do not even know Manipuri, the lingua franca of the state, he said, while demanding the central government to identify those illegal immigrants and send them to their respective countries.
He further said that these immigrants are supporting outfits, which are signatories of SoO pact, in poppy plantation and yet the Government of India is remaining silent.
The secretary demanded the central government to take up stringent action against the drug cartels and illegal immigrants in the state.
Direct involvement of SoO-bound outfits in poppy plantation and bringing in illegal migrants is evident from their press statements, he claimed, while questioning if this is a secret agenda of the central government.
These illegal immigrants have even begun to plot assassination of chief minister N Biren for his crackdown against illegal poppy cultivation and initiatives to protect reserved and protected forest areas, he said and enquired if people of the state would remain silent when these groups of people are openly suggesting assassination of the chief minister, who has been putting his best efforts to bring unity among people of different communities of the state.
Meanwhile, Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM), Manipur Pradesh has cautioned people, who are part of a WhatsApp group which was found plotting to kill chief minister N Biren Singh, to clarify their motive within seven days, failing which they will face strict action.
In a release, BJYM Manipur president M Barish Sharma stated that threatening the chief minister of Manipur is a threat to the entire people of the state itself.
Hence, taking the matter very seriously, the offenders will face severe consequence.
