Imphal, August 17 2026:
The JFD Students' Wing has vehemently condemned the alleged excesses committed by SDPO N Ingocha against its women volunteers.
Speaking to media persons at WAL Club, Wangkhei Angom Leikai, JFD Students' wing convenor Naorem Wangamba said that they staged protest at many places across different districts today as a part of the ongoing people's movement to get the NRC updated before census operations are carried out.
Members of JFD Students' Wing moved to DM University to stop a training programme of enumerators and supervisors conducted there.
But SDPO N Ingocha treated the protesters with a hostile attitude and unleashed excessive force, Wangamba said.
The student community has been taking active part in several key issues of the State and many of them have died in police action, he said.
Police officers and personnel must take note that the ongoing movement and the students' protest are driven by the collective interest of Manipur including their own, Wangamba said.
He warned that illegal immigrants will take control of the Government under which they (police personnel) are serving if the people's will to update the NRC is not translated into action.
One Kharibam Reshma, a fifth semester student and a representative of a college students' union, said that SDPO N Ingocha was shouting right in front of Central security personnel, "Kick down the women, let them die in drains" .
N Ingocha also instructed his subordinate personnel "Do whatever you like", Reshma said.
Vehemently condemning the hostile attitude and the excesses committed by SDPO N Ingocha, she asked whether it would be right for the student community to remain silent when Manipur is facing existential threats.
